Bioenvironmental Engineering
Bioenvironmental Engineering provides Luke Air Force Base with operational health risk assessment expertise to enhance commanders' decision-making and health service support capabilities. We conduct our mission through four avenues: Occupational Health/Industrial Hygiene, Readiness Plans and Operations, Environmental Health, and Radiation/Nuclear Health and Safety.
- Industrial Hygiene, BE anticipates, recognizes and evaluates work-related health risks and recommends controls to mitigate hazards.
- In Readiness Plans and Operations, BE provides chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear emergency response services through surveillance, risk assessment, decision support and protective measure recommendations.
- BE monitors Environmental Health through sampling and/or interpretation of environmental, non-industrial sources such as potable water, asbestos, and indoor air quality.
- The Radiation/Nuclear Health and Safety Program monitors and provides proper work conditions and hazard mitigation for all radiation producing equipment, radioactive sources, and non-ionizing radiation sources on the installation.
Protective mask and industrial respirator fit testing are available by appointment only, Tuesday thru Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
